Tour of CNM’s LEED-Certified Buildings Part of RecycleMania Events

February 3, 2015 -- As the first event of the 2015 RecycleMania Tournament, CNM is sponsoring a tour on Friday, Feb. 6, of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified buildings on Main Campus. The tour, which is open to students, is co-sponsored by the New Mexico Student and Emerging Professionals Chapter of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

RecycleMania is a tournament in which CNM is competing against colleges and universities across the country for recycling excellence.

The highly energy efficient and eco-friendly buildings that will be toured include:

  • Jeannette Stromberg Hall, which received LEED Gold in 2012.
  • Student Resource Center, which received LEED Silver in 2010.
  • The under-construction Science Laboratory Building (L Building), which is expected to receive LEED Gold. It’s expected to reopen in fall 2015.

Attendees must RSVP at A mandatory OSHA orientation will be held prior to the tour in preparation for the job-site visit. Participants are to arrive between 1:30-2 p.m. to get checked in. The event will begin at 2 p.m. More information is available at the link above or by emailing
