Tom Swisstack Joins CNM Governing Board

June 22, 2016 -- Tom Swisstack, former Mayor of Rio Rancho, was selected to fill the vacant District 3 CNM Governing Board seat during the CNM Governing Board’s June meeting. Swisstack will officially begin serving on the CNM Governing Board July 12.

Swisstack will replace Debbi Moore, who resigned from the CNM Governing Board last month to accept a leadership position with the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.

Swisstack will serve as the District 3 CNM Governing Board member until the next Governing Board election, which will be in February 2017. After the election, the elected Governing Board members will serve four-year terms beginning in March 2017.

Swisstack is currently the Deputy County Manager of Public Safety for Bernalillo County, but will be retiring from that position on June 24. He had been serving in that position since 2010. Swisstack was the Director of the Bernalillo County Youth Services Center from 1998-2010.

Swisstack served as Mayor of Rio Rancho from 1994-98 and from 2008-2014.

His public service history also includes: serving as Chairman of the Mid Region Council of Governments (2012-13); serving in the New Mexico House of Representatives (2002-2008); serving on Governor Bill Richardson’s Juvenile Justice Task Force (2002); serving on Governor Gary Johnson’s Highway Task Force (1997-98); and serving as Sandoval County Commissioner (1987-94), including Chairman (1987-91).
