Cook-off Winners Crowned as Chile Champs

May 6, 2015 -- The numbers are in. Winners of last Friday’s Cinco de Mayo Chile Student Services Cook-off have been announced.

Best green goes to Terri Fajardo and hottest green goes to Rodrigo Padilla. Best red was Tim Brito and hottest red went to Chris Cavazos. The grand prize winner was Toryn Terrell winning the best and hottest salsa.

“I would like to give an extra big thank you to all of our chile and salsa competitors,” said Elisa Castillo, event coordinator. “And I would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate one of New Mexico’s richest traditions – that being our love for delicious red and green chile, and mouth-watering salsa. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and was able to cool down their pallets with enough water.”

She also said much thanks go to the Hispanic Heritage Task Team members and staff members from Academic Advisement and Job Connection Services (AAJCS) and CNM Connect who helped organize the event.

“Last but not least, I want to thank CNM for supporting Hispanic/Latino cultural celebrations that enrich our employee and student population. A positive educational environment is motivating and inspiring to all,” Castillo said.
