In early April, the Montoya, Westside and Main campuses held e-recycling events for employees and students, who were encouraged to bring their unwanted electronic waste from home to recycling sites at the campuses. After all was said and done, a total of 6,123 pounds of electronic waste was collected to be recycled.

“This is waste that was diverted from the landfills,” said Janet Estepp, president of Albuquerque Recycling, which collected the e-waste. “Events like this are a good way to let people know that electronics should not be thrown out (in the trash).”

Estepp and Kevin Brouse, procurement and sales officer for Albuquerque Recycling, presented CNM’s e-recycling team with the trophy. For more information about Albuquerque Recycling, click here.
