Arts Fandango Set for April 2

March 23, 2016 -- Arts Fandango, a fundraiser for art students committed to studio art, will be held Saturday, April 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the Art on Broadway Gallery, 1910 Broadway NE Albuquerque.
March 23, 2016

The fundraiser will feature a silent auction of artwork donated by the college’s faculty, staff, students and alumni, as well as local professional artists. Proceeds from the auction will provide financial assistance to CNM art students demonstrating a commitment to excellence in studio art and the Ernest Garcia Scholarship recipient, which will be announced during the evening.

In addition to the auction, there will be fine art, free food and music.

Garcia taught art for 22 years at CNM, where he pioneered the studio art program, instituting the school’s first studio classes. His artwork was largely based upon Southwestern themes. Garcia died of cancer on July 18, 2012.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Cost to students is $5, all others $10. Attendees are asked to bring cash or check to pay for their winning bids.

Arts Fandango organizers are seeking high-quality art donations from students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters to be sold at the silent auction. They want paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, photographs etc. that are well-made and demonstrate excellence in form and contact. It should reflect the artists’ skills, abilities and work they are proud to exhibit. Ready-to-hang artwork should be left with the art tech at Main, Westside or Montoya campuses by March 25.
