College & Career High School Earns "A" Grade in Statewide School Rankings

Jan. 27, 2016 -- The College & Career High School (CCHS) has received an “A” rating from the New Mexico Public Education Department’s annual school rating system for the 2014-15 academic year. CCHS, which is in its third year of existence, also received an “A” rating after its first year in 2013-14.

CCHS is located on CNM’s Main Campus and is the result of a partnership between Albuquerque Public Schools and CNM. Students take APS classes for half of their school day, and then take CNM college-level classes that count for both high school and college credit during the other half of the day.

While advancing toward their high school diploma, CCHS students pursue college certificates, associate degrees or college credits toward a bachelor’s degree. When they graduate from CCHS, some students simultaneously graduate with an associate degree or enough college credits to enter a university as a junior.

CCHS students take advantage of CNM’s Dual Credit program, which allows high school students to take CNM classes tuition-free, which can save thousands of dollars on a college education. College textbooks are also provided at no cost to the students.

CCHS is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors across Albuquerque.
